One of my favorite things to do when life stresses me out (or just because I love it) is to watch what I call...comfort TV! I love the TV shows of my childhood (and some that were well before my childhood). It reminds me of when the world seemed so much simpler than it is today. Everywhere I look on TV these days, it's sex, drugs, violence and drama (do I sound like a grandma yet?) and it just gets overwhelming and, quite frankly, depressing sometimes! So....I pull out my box sets of old TV shows on DVD, pop them in and forget about how the world seems drenched in Crazy Sauce for a while.
Let's take a step back in time, shall we?
The Cosby Show is my number one most favorite show of all time. Ever! I swear to you, if there was a channel that played the Cosby's 24/7 my world would be made. I would never watch anything else! I have seen every episode a million and one times, but they never get old. Bill Cosby is one of my heroes. He is an amazing man! When I was a little girl, I always wanted to be Vanessa. She was my favorite with her crazy, geometric hairstyles and Benetton sweaters!

Three's Company! Ahhh, John Ritter....he could always make me laugh! I wasn't allowed to watch this show when I was younger, obviously, but since I discovered it as an adult, I'm hooked. I love to watch it in the middle of the night (on TV Land). Janet is my favorite character.

The Addams Family is another one of my favorites. It is such a creepy, funny and...creepy show! I love it!

Who doesn't love Happy Days? This is my second favorite show. Every time I watch it, I wish I'd lived in that era. There was so much respect for adults, authority and each other (at least the show portrays it that way). And, Tom Bosley? Well, I just adored him.

I used to want to be Marsha on The Brady Bunch. That family always had a good time! And my favorite episode will always be when they entered the talent competition and sang 'It's A Sunshine Day'!

I also loved Leave it to Beaver! June was the epitomy of beautiful housewife. And I always thought the dad looked like my mom's old Ken Barbie doll.

These shows just give me a reprieve from the heaviness of the world sometimes. Do you have shows that bring you comfort? What are your favorites?
