hollllllla y'all! here we are....the last day of november!! lawdy mercy, i hope ya got your shopping on this past week and got some deals!! i didn't buy a thang...for anyone other than myself:) i finished my shopping a long time ago for everyone EXCEPT my kids and hubs. we are going out of town next weekend and will go all charlie sheen crazy in birmingham shopping & get them knocked out!! (their gifts, not really them!) that's what happens when they get older :( {18 & 14} they pick it out & you wrap it and/or pretend SANTA brought it :) i just hope the galleria is ready for the flip flop family!

this weeks {s}ww is off my board titled giggles on pinterest...

i can sit and laugh for hours on end. i love to laugh!

we did! i am sad to see the kids go back to school though.

the holidays are just always too short!

i don't know about y'all but i didn't even think of going shopping on black friday.

there was absolutely nothing that i would fight those mad crazy crowds for.

unless louis vuitton or chanel was having a 1/2 off sale, then i would have been going all charlie sheen kind of crazy with them!

welcome y'all! i hope that today you have all your turkey fixin's purchased or have arrived at your turkey day feast destination. i pray that you all have the most blessed holiday with your friends and family & safe travels along the way! i am looking forward to my children being out of school & spending time with my family!!(and ofcourse the good food is an added bonus!) also, i can't wait to get our tree & start dragging out all my christmas decor!! i think that i may do home tour tuesday the 2nd week of dec. so we can all show off our holiday decorations!! ~~i may or may not have already started!~~

the ~~fatter~~ older i get, the quicker it comes!!

i was looking for some new ideas for turkey day so i wanted to do the swap this week vs. next.
so, link up whatever ya got....new...old...even what you are going to try!

Zee Spotted Pig Bloody Mary

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup finely grated peeled fresh horseradish
2 ounces Worcestershire sauce
2 ounces Sriracha chile sauce
Finely grated zest of 1 small lemon
2 teaspoons celery salt
1 teaspoon kosher salt
Freshly ground pepper
32 ounces tomato juice
Ice
16 ounces vodka
Lime wedges
Pickled or fresh vegetables (optional)

DIRECTIONS

In a pitcher, combine the horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, Sriracha, lemon zest, celery salt, kosher salt and 2 teaspoons ground pepper. Add the tomato juice and stir well. Cover and refrigerate until chilled, at least 2 hours.

Pour the tomato juice mixture into 8 ice-filled rocks glasses. Add 2 ounces vodka to each glass and stir. Garnish each drink with a pinch of ground pepper, a lime wedge and pickled vegetables.

ruth's chris sweet potato casserole

CRUST
1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1 cup chopped nuts (pecans preferred)shopping
1/3 stick butter -- melted (Do not omit or reduce this amount)
SWEET POTATO MIXTURE
3 cups mashed sweet potatoes (Garnets looks best and I bake mine first)
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs -- well beaten
1 stick butter -- ( 1/2 cup) melted (You can leave it out or reduce it, if you wish)

Combine brown sugar, flour, nuts and butter in mixing bowl. Set aside.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine sweet potatoes, sugar, salt, vanilla, eggs and butter in a mixing bowl in the order listed. Mix thoroughly.
Pour mixture into buttered baking dish.
Sprinkle the surface of the sweet potato mixture evenly with the crust mixture.
Bake for 30 minutes. Allow to set at least 30 minutes before serving.
Serves 6 Hint: Double the recipe. People will love the leftovers, which also freeze beautifully.

southern nana' puddin'

4-1/2 cups milk
2 pkg. (4-serving size each) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Cook & Serve Pudding
3 eggs, separated
42 NILLA Wafers (1/2 of 12-oz. pkg.)
2 large bananas, sliced
Dash cream of tartar
1/3 cup sugar make it

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Add milk to dry pudding mix in medium saucepan; stir until well blended. Lightly beat egg yolks in small bowl. Add to milk mixture; mix well. Bring to full rolling boil on medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.

ARRANGE layer of wafers on bottom and up side of 2-qt. baking dish. Top with layers of one third of the pudding and one half of the banana slices. Repeat layers; cover with the remaining pudding.

BEAT egg whites and cream of tartar in medium bowl with electric mixer on high speed until foamy. Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form. Spread over pudding, sealing to edge of dish.

BAKE 15 min. or until meringue is browned. Cool. Serve warm or refrigerate until ready to serve. Store leftover pudding in refrigerator.

{semi} wordless wednesday

happy wednesday y'all! can you believe that thanksgiving is next week?? i am wondering where in the world 2011 went! our travel plans have changed so we will be in town next week & {s} ww will be on like donkey kong:)

thanks for all your wishes, thoughts & prayers for the savannah 1/2 marathon. we stayed at a house on th beach on tybee island. it was 15 of us girls.....4 days....9 hr drive....ran 13.1 miles = good times & great memories!

my hip decided it didn't want to be my friend on mile 10. so, i ran / walked the last 3. I walked through all the water stops and had to hit the porta potty...that took about 4.5 min. off my time as i HAD TO WAIT IN LINE!!

isn't it funny when you see the finish line, you start to cry?? haha....i was very emotional as i was in pain and my best friend wasn't there with the camera, smiling from ear to ear, cheering me on. it's all good though. he will be in new orleans @ the rock n' roll when we run again in march....rock on y'all!
